Description

Artificial intelligence is transforming the legal profession at an unprecedented pace, and young lawyers are uniquely positioned not only to adapt to this change, but to help shape it. This session explores how the next generation of legal professionals, within AIJA, can play an active role in the policy debates defining the governance of AI – from regulatory frameworks and ethical standards to the future of legal education and access to justice.

As part of this effort, the BRC is launching a comparative research project aimed at mapping how different jurisdictions and bar associations are responding to the challenges posed by AI for young lawyers. The findings shall feed into a white paper offering concrete policy recommendations to ensure that the profession remains accessible, fair, and well-regulated in the age of AI.

As legislators and bar associations across the world grapple with these questions, young lawyers have both the opportunity and the responsibility to contribute their perspective to the decisions that will define the profession for decades to come. We invite participants to share their experiences and insights, helping us build a truly global picture to support our and future lawyers’ generations.

SPEAKERS

Chiara Caliandro

De Berti Jacchia
Milan, Italy

Bio

Chiara is a partner at De Berti Jacchia, a full-service firm based in Milan founded in 1975. She specialises in civil and commercial litigation, assisting both national and international clients in resolving their disputes in Italy, whether in court or before arbitral tribunals. She assists clients doing business in Italy by drafting, negotiating and pre-litigating commercial contracts, from day-to-day agreements to complex multiparty projects.

Her AIJA life has been so important to her that she feels she should thank the association every single day! Recent updates: after 5 years as Vice-President and Co-President of the Litigation Commission, she is now Co-Chair of the Bar Relations Coordination team within the Extended Bureau. She also has the honour of serving as AIJA Liaison Officer within the Young Lawyers’ Committee of the IBA.

She is a working partner-mum, so free time is limited, but she loves wine tasting, diving and police and medical drama TV series (binge watching very much included).
